The LPG cylinder price today in India for Monday, 2 November 2026 is the first working-week rate after the 1 November revision. The 14.2 kg home cylinder has not moved. Delhi families pay ₹942, the same as Saturday’s LPG price and the same since 7 June 2026. The 19 kg commercial cylinder now costs ₹2,820 in Delhi after a ₹10 rise on Sunday. Below you will find the four metro rates and capital city prices for all 28 states. For booking help and background, see our main India LPG price page.

Today’s spotlight is the Ujjwala subsidy. Many readers ask why a neighbour pays less for the same cylinder. We explain who gets ₹300 back, on how many refills, and what that means for a year of cooking.

Last updated: prices checked on the morning of Monday, 2 November 2026. Home cylinder rates come from Goodreturns (checked on 2 November 2026). The November commercial rates for the metros come from news reports of 1 November 2026: Zee Business (PTI), Live Hindustan, The Times of India and Times Now. Delhi and Chennai match in every report. Goodreturns still showed the October commercial rates when we checked, so the capital tables show the October commercial rate for now. All prices are in rupees (₹) per cylinder unless we say per kg.

Why are Ladakh and Lakshadweep not available? Goodreturns has no page for either. Other sites disagree on Leh by more than ₹100, and Kavaratti appears on only one small site. We leave a gap rather than print a guess.

Where sources differ. Live Hindustan (1 November 2026) shows Patna at ₹1,040 and Shillong at ₹1,007.50 for the home cylinder. Goodreturns shows ₹1,031.50 and ₹1,009. A Rajya Sabha reply reported by The Indian Express (20 July 2026) also showed Patna at ₹1,040. We print the Goodreturns figures in the table. Please confirm with your distributor.

Spotlight: the Ujjwala LPG price explained

Ujjwala is the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). It gave free LPG connections to poorer households. Ujjwala homes buy the cylinder at the same shop price as everyone else. In Delhi that is ₹942. The government then sends ₹300 back to their bank account for each refill, up to a limit. That makes the effective price ₹642 in Delhi.

Bar chart comparing the Delhi 14.2 kg LPG price for Ujjwala homes (₹642 on the first four refills) with ₹942 for other refills and homes, and a supply cost of over ₹1,600
What a Delhi home pays for a 14.2 kg cylinder: ₹642 for Ujjwala homes on the first four refills a year after the ₹300 subsidy, ₹942 otherwise. The government put the cost to supply at over ₹1,600 in June 2026. Sources: PIB and Lok Sabha reply of 6 August 2026.

How many refills get the ₹300?

Since June 2026 the ₹300 applies to the first four refills of 14.2 kg in a year. Before that the limit was nine. The ministry said in a Lok Sabha reply of 6 August 2026 that many Ujjwala households use about four refills a year. Homes with a 5 kg connection get a pro-rated amount. After the fourth refill the household pays the full shop price, with no ₹300 back.

The press release from PIB puts the support at ₹1,200 per Ujjwala home a year. It also says more than 10.58 crore connections receive it. Any home can still buy as many cylinders as it needs at the normal price.

What a year of cooking costs: an example

Take a Delhi family that uses six cylinders a year. Without Ujjwala it pays 6 × ₹942 = ₹5,652. With Ujjwala it pays ₹642 on four refills and ₹942 on two. That comes to ₹4,452, a saving of ₹1,200. A family that uses only four cylinders pays ₹2,568 in the year. These are our own example sums based on the Delhi price.

Why the government says everyone is helped

The government put the cost to supply one cylinder at over ₹1,600 in June 2026. Every home pays well below that. Oil companies carry the gap as a loss, which they call under-recovery. The ₹300 Ujjwala subsidy is separate and comes on top. In the same Lok Sabha reply the ministry said the hidden subsidy on a ₹942 cylinder was ₹188 in August 2026, down from more than ₹700 in June.

A quick check for Ujjwala homes. Open your bank messages after a refill. The ₹300 usually arrives as a direct benefit transfer. If it does not show up, ask your distributor whether your Aadhaar e-KYC is complete. Also check how many subsidised refills you have used this year.

Recent LPG price changes

We found two domestic price changes in 2026 and none on 1 November. Goodreturns says the domestic cylinder is up ₹89 since November 2025. The commercial price has moved much more. Today’s rise is small next to the jump of 1 October.

What decides the LPG price in India

The Saudi contract price

India imports a large share of its LPG. The Saudi contract price is the reference. For November 2026 Saudi Aramco set $720 a tonne for propane and $780 for butane. In October it was $680 and $730. So propane rose $40 and butane $50. These figures were reported by MT Newswires and Argaam on 29 October 2026. The commercial cylinder price is market-linked, so a higher benchmark tends to push it up. The home cylinder price is set with policy in mind and did not move this month.

The loss on each cylinder

Oil companies sell the domestic cylinder below cost. The loss is called under-recovery. The chairman of HPCL said the loss was ₹245 a cylinder in October. He expects it to reach ₹327 in November, as reported by Moneycontrol on 23 October 2026. A larger loss does not mean a price rise is coming. It does show the pressure on the companies.

Booking rules

Two booking rules matter this month. They apply to Ujjwala and other homes alike.

  • From 7 September 2026 the booking gap is 25 days for all consumers, as reported by The Hindu.
  • Biometric Aadhaar checks for domestic users began on 1 October 2026, as reported by The Times of India.
  • Mint reported on 26 October 2026 that this e-KYC rule will be enforced more strictly in November. Households that have not finished it may not be able to book a subsidised refill until they do. If you already completed it, you do not need to repeat it.

How to check the price in your own town

  1. Open your latest cash memo or bill. The amount charged is the real price for you.
  2. Look at your LPG company’s app or website and open the booking screen. It shows the amount before you pay.
  3. Ask your distributor for the current rate and the delivery charge. Ask if the charge is already included.
  4. Compare it with the capital price on this page. A small difference is normal. A large one is worth a question.

Before you book a November refill, open your LPG app and check that your Aadhaar e-KYC shows as complete. The booking gap is 25 days from your last refill. Diwali falls on 8 November, so if you are due, book early in the week.

What to expect next

The next monthly review would normally fall on 1 December 2026. Diwali is on 8 November, so many eateries and sweet shops will buy more commercial cylinders this month. For homes the bigger question is the loss oil companies make on each domestic cylinder. HPCL expects it to reach ₹327 in November, as noted above. That is pressure on the companies, not an announcement of a price change. Our main rate source still showed October commercial rates for the capitals when we checked this morning. We will update the capital tables once it loads November. Past pages are in our daily LPG price archive.

On the delivery side, oil companies have backed an interim rise in distributor commission, as reported by The Hindu BusinessLine on 25 October 2026. The ministry has not approved it yet. The main distributor federations have promised normal home delivery, as reported by The Hindu the same day.
