Editorial Policy
This page explains how lpgpricetoday.com reports LPG and propane prices. It covers who writes what, which sources we use, how often we update figures and how we handle mistakes.
Who writes our content
Abdul Basit is the founder of lpgpricetoday.com. He is based in India. He tracks LPG and propane prices from public sources such as the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), Saudi Aramco contract prices and Indian oil company announcements. He writes the site’s price pages and guides.
James Gates is the editor who writes the daily LPG & Propane News roundups. His posts cite the original publishers and point readers to the dated price pages on this site.
Both authors work on this site only in those roles. Read more on our About page. Daily news posts appear under James Gates. Price pages and guides appear under Abdul Basit.
What we publish
- U.S. residential propane prices by state from the EIA weekly survey.
- India LPG cylinder prices for the 14.2 kg home cylinder and the 19 kg commercial cylinder.
- International benchmarks such as the Saudi Aramco contract price and the Mont Belvieu spot price, plus country rows we can source.
- Evergreen guides that explain units, tanks and costs. The cost guide does not try to be a live price table.
- Daily news roundups for the United States and India. Each roundup cites original publishers.
We do not invent prices, quotes or sources. We do not copy a regional average into a state or city that has no published figure. We do not claim real-time prices. Every number on a price page has a date and a source.
How we choose sources
We prefer primary public sources. For U.S. home propane that is the U.S. Energy Information Administration. For the Mont Belvieu spot price we use the EIA series also carried on FRED. For India cylinder rates we use dated compilations such as Goodreturns and we cross-check major city moves with news reports of oil-company revisions. For the Saudi contract price we cite the named report that published the monthly figure.
News roundups may start from Google News or Bing News. The published post cites the original publisher, not the search page. We do not put external links in the story body. They appear in the Sources list with rel=”noopener nofollow”.
How often we update figures
- U.S. state prices. Weekly from October to March when EIA publishes its Heating Oil and Propane Update. Off season the survey is thinner. We say so on the page.
- India cylinder prices. Checked every morning. The page is updated in place when a rate changes.
- Saudi Aramco contract price. Monthly, when a dated report is available.
- News. A U.S. roundup and an India roundup on each publishing day, with no skipped days in the current schedule.
A date in a headline or a “last updated” line is the date of the source or of our check. It is not a promise that every market has moved that day.
Opinion, estimates and gaps
When we convert units or estimate a tank fill we label it as an estimate. We show the method. Your bill can differ because of taxes, delivery fees and your supplier’s rate.
If a source does not list a place we write “Coming soon” or “Not available”. We never fill the cell with a guess.
Independence
We do not sell fuel. We do not accept payment to change a price in a table. If we later add advertising or affiliate links we will say so on the page and in our terms. Advertisers will not write our price tables.
Corrections
If we get a figure wrong we correct it. We note what changed when the error could have misled a reader. See our corrections policy or write to contact@lpgpricetoday.com.
